To purchase and download a story, or several stories, select the “Adventure Index”.  A display will tell you that you are entering a secure area, to proceed click “Ok”.  The “Adventure Index” will then be displayed showing the titles that are available.

Each story may be downloaded in text-only or text-and-sound formats.  Text-only download time will normally be less than 3-4 minutes per story.  However, until high speed “Broadband” connections are available to all potential readers, the download time for text-and-sound may be considered too long to be practical, typical approximate times being as follows:

Having selected either text-and-sound or text-only format, a story selection is made by clicking on the appropriate boxes opposite the titles.  After checking the selection, click on the “Purchase Adventures” button.

A new page will then displayed showing the following information:

  ·   Your choice of Adventure Stories and formats

  ·   Your Order No.

  ·   The Total Cost of your purchase

On completion, click “Submit Form” for transfer to EPDQ Barclaycard to process the card payment (refer to “Privacy Statement” for details of Security and Confidentiality).

On acceptance and completion of the payment, a readatbedtime.com download page will be displayed to enable transfer of the selection as zip files with a link for each story containing a text or text-and-sound file.

After completion of downloading, unzip the file using Winzip, or a similar programme, and double-click the “Francis Carr” icon to view and/or print the text of the story.  The soundtrack will be found in a folder named “Audio” in MP3 format and can be played on the PC or loaded onto an MP3 player for remote listening.

Purchasers are advised that a refund is not available once the payment for a story has been made and therefore it is recommended that first-time readers download a single story to ensure that a successful transfer can be made via their connection and PC set-up.
